In Loving Memory of Dora Silvia Cerquin Honores
April 4, 1938 – June 23, 2026

Dora Silvia Cerquin Honores, 88, passed away peacefully at her home in East Elmhurst, New York, in the early morning of Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m.

Born on April 4, 1938, in Lima, Peru, Dora was one of seven siblings. She was a diligent student who always worked and studied hard, and that effort earned her one of the highest scores on her university entrance examination. That dedication to learning stayed with her for the rest of her life. "Study with consciousness," she would often say, a phrase she instilled in all of us and a value she carried with her always.

Dora spent much of her career as a grade schoolteacher, guiding children from the first through the sixth grade. She poured her heart into her students, and they never forgot her. Many of them went on to become professionals, including lawyers and doctors, and she remained proud of them and stayed in touch with them through the years. The fondness with which they still remember her says everything about the mark she left on every young life she touched.

After her years in the classroom, Dora followed her passion and opened a hair salon, a venture that brought her great joy and let her share her warmth with her community.

Those who knew Dora knew her spirit. She loved to sing and dance, and she was the life of every party, always making her presence known with her vibrant energy. She was also wonderfully gifted with her hands. She found peace in knitting and crocheting, and as a seamstress, she lovingly made dresses for her daughter and beautiful pieces for herself.

A devout Catholic, Dora held her faith close and lived by it every day. She was quick with a proverb and always ready with good advice. She was a wonderful person to talk to, someone who would always make time to listen and to share her guidance. She was wise, having learned a great deal from her life experiences, and she generously shared that wisdom with anyone who sought it.

Dora was reunited with her first husband, Mario Sac, the father of her two children, who passed away in 2000. She is survived by her loving husband, Luis Alberto Flores del Rio. She also leaves behind her son, Juan Jose Sac, and her daughter, Marjorie Denisse Vichinsky, along with her three cherished grandchildren, John Josh Visintin, Patrick Sac Justo, and Ivana Jamie Vichinsky.

Though she is no longer with us, Dora will live on forever in our hearts and in our memories. We will miss you, and we will always love you.
